about
I would
When I wrote this song I was deeply depressed. While I wrote it, the tears were streaming down my face, falling onto the piece of paper I used to scribble down the lyrics with a shaky hand.
The song tells the story of a woman who can't seem to find any positive aspects about her life anymore and eventually decides to put it to an end. While writing this song I had a certain spot in mind where she wanted to take her life: it is actually a "famous" spot for suicide close to my hometown in south west of Germany. It's a massive rock where people mostly go to hike and enjoy the view. Others write down their names and a farewell in a little wooden hut on top of the rock.
But while the woman is standing right on the edge, she realizes that there are so many things worth living for. And after all she makes peace with herself.
With this song I want to raise awareness for depression as a serious topic. It's no wonder that in our often cruel and unfair world, shaken by the climate crisis and wars all around the planet, it's hard to stay positive.
That's why it's super important to TALK about depression and TAKE IT SERIOUSLY. Then find support, surround yourself with good people and things that make you happy. Take time. It's okay to not be okay.
'There will be sun after the storm.'

lyrics
You put your head in your hands
Wondering when you've been happy last
And you look at the half-empty glass
It reminds you of your life, what it's been so far
You didn't have a good start
And there's too many scars in your heart
Countless nights you have fallen
Fallen asleep while you cried
And you feel like
There's never been anyone by your side
I've been there before
And I know what it's like to feel all alone
But there will be sun after the storm
If I could take all of your pain away
If I could let you forget the past and live for today
If I could make you see the stars instead of the cold empty sky in the dark
Baby I would
You're freezing and the wind's playing with your hair
As if it just didn't care
That there's reasons why you are here
Your name is carved into the railing of wood
But somehow it doesn't look good
Next to all of the others who couldn't take it anymore
Being happy looks easy when you're happy but not when your down
But believe me: There are better times to come
And in the end it's all gonna be good, all gonna be good my friend
And if it's not good it's not the end
If I could take all of your pain away
If I could let you forget the past and live for today
If I could make you see the stars instead of the cold empty sky in the dark
Baby I would
Your hands around the cold wood
Your heart is beating fast
The rain feels so good
You wanna make it last
You want to see the sun again
The grass below your feet
You don't want this life to end
There's still so much to see
And then it takes all of you pain away
You forget about the past and live for today
You finally see the stars instead of the cold empty sky in the dark
Baby it's good
